Whatever type of people you have the MBTI will help you understand and work with them better.
Personality type is not as much of a mystery as we often think. We are all human and therefore we can learn much about the other people in this world by learning more about ourselves. Still people are different. I believe these differences can be best understood by openly observing others and sharing ourselves. This is a very ENFx (ENFP or ENFJ) statement and reflects my type, ENFP.
Type assesses differences on four scales:
(I/E) INTROVERT ... EXTROVERT
(S/N) SENSOR ... INTUITIVE
(T/F) THINKER ... FEELER
(P/J) PERCEPTIVE-TYPE ... JUDGING-TYPE
You can informally assess a person's type by just observing them or asking a few questions. You can assess your own type or others by using the online ( Kersey sorter). This instrument is not highly validated, but it will give you some meaningful information. If you want to be more confident of your type see a trained and certified administrator of the MBTI instrument and spend the several hours necessary access and understand your type. Better do this with a group of your associates and use the results to improve your skills working together.
I use the MBTI as a self-disclosing instrument and exercise in teambuilding. It allows us to see our profound differences that we are not aware of unless the others share what they think and feel. Type is about our innate, usually unconscious, preferences. It is not about skills or abilities.
